Happy Birthday to My Mom and Me. . .

It's been a busy weekend.

That's my father-in-law. He turned 80 in May. He wore that big hat so everyone would know he was the birthday boy at his party. He flew in from Florida yesterday and is staying with us for a few weeks. He didn't bring that hat with him. It wouldn't fit on the airplane.

It was my mother's birthday on Friday, and she turned 76. It was my birthday on Saturday and I turned, ageless.

That's my mom. She had a stroke last October and is doing well. Her memory is a little off, so I have tried to convince her that I was the child that never gave her a moment of trouble or worry. It's not working. She says my crazy childhood antics were not one of the things she lost in her memory bank. Darn.

That's her telling my sister that she's on to me.

That's my sister-in-law on the left, my mom, and my favorite sister on the right.

Someone cut me out of the picture.

I was the one laying across their laps.

That's my sister and Smokey, the fireman.

They begged me to take this picture after they shared a schooner of beer.

My birthday was today and those are my birthday feet.

There are a hundred more pictures just like that one and not one of my face.

Next time, I'm in charge of the camera.

Your mom makes me want to snap that elastic on her party hat. She's just sitting there, vulnerable and I'm guessing her hearing isn't that great anymore. She is so cute that I just want to quietly creep up on her and snap that elastic. Not hard, just enough to make her think you did it.

I have one sister and she isn't my favorite. I am auditioning better sisters and I was wondering if you would be interested in applying. We would be together on our birthdays (obviously) and all major holidays. Hallmark cards would be mandatory on all Hallmark holidays and you would have to be the sponsor for at least half of my children and help me with their weddings. I'll just need a quick background check and three forms of picture ID and you are in in in :)

And happy birthday. I had a birthday this week as well, also ageless.

Ohhh Carrie, I wish I had snapped the elastic! I was sitting right next to her and could have easily blamed it on RM. As I am the perfect daughter things like that don't occur to me.

Happy Birthday! I am not sure how I managed to arrive so late to the party. Fashionably late is one thing...but days...well, I'm still pondering my excuses.
